Event Reviews
Jacqueline Freer of Inrichmint had her nose on the ground for Mr Spencer, and came back with this personal report.

Excitement was in the air and we were on our way out for a much anticipated night of fun. We hit Trinity in Cape Town on the 14th of May to see Groove Armada, presented by Infinity events, on the Mother City leg of their two city tour. Playing the night away Mia Monroe, Ricardo Da Costa, Dean Fuel and Sean Ox joined one of the world’s greatest names in dance music.

This was my first visit to Trinity and walking in I was well impressed with the club. It looked good, the hostesses are friendly, helpful and considering how many people where already crammed into the club the Qs were virtually nonexistent. We were lead upstairs to the VIP area, which was all a buzz with all sorts of activity. We ordered a drink from the bar and while walking away waiters come out with gorgeous complimentary snack platters. It made for a true quality clubbing experience from the start.

We made our way down the stairs towards the stage where Mia Monroe was working her musical magic, and the crowd just loved her, lapping it all up beat by beautiful beat. Shouting her name and screaming out for more she handed over to Ricardo da Costa who revved the crowed up even more. And all I could this was, if this is how it starts we in for a really good night, and that is exactly what it was.

Ricardo took on the masses with some massive hits, presenting the pleasures of excellent house music, and there is just nothing like it; good quality sounds. The presence of professional and renowned local DJ, producer and co founder of Soul Candi Records to it to the next level in a totally flawless fashion before handing over to the Headlining act we were all waiting for.

Tom Findley from Groove Armada set up his equipment and got into gear. I was expecting to see more than the one member of the band, but he pretty much blew us away. When “Super Stylin” came pounding out of the speakers, the dancefloor erupted with a huge roar or approval moving in unison to the beat. A few other old school tunes like “Show Me Love” came from this Super Stylin guy before handing over the reins to Cape Town’s very own Dean Fuel.
A well known and well respected artist, Mr Fuel put the fun factor in to it while the club burst open with excitement. He gave it his all and loved every minute of it, pretty easy to tell by the look on his face that he was having a pretty good time. Trinity is no stranger to this mother city local, his weekly sets are a feature at this super club.

Dean gave the decks to Joburg born and Cape Town settled Sean Ox who played the closing set of the night. And what a set it was with him jumping around for joy accompanied by beats of a little harder fashion. As he shut it down the crowd cried out for just one more, again and again. This of course is a compliment of the highest degree to any DJ, promoter or club hosting any event.

I look forward to the next event at this amazing club. If Groove Armada was anything to go on this venue has many more nights of fantastic musical madness coming their way. A success and a great night was had by all. I can see a bright and brilliant future ahead for Trinity and would like to take this opportunity to thank the promoters, the performers and Groove Armada along with an awesome crowd for a fantastic evening! Look out for more entertainment news coming your way from Cape Town and the international scene this winter and the coming summer season. This is only the beginning.
