The Beatport Music Awards took place live and direct on Sunday the 27th of March at Miami’s Gansevoort Hotel. The ceremony took place at the close of five days of sunkissed vibes at the Beatport Beach Party to end off Miami Music Week with thousands of fans. It is a comprehensive overview of the best and brightest in electronic dance music and club culture, from the underground to the superclubs.Awards were broken down into three categories: Sales-based Community choice and Staff picks
Top tracks by genre were determined entirely by sales—these were, hands down, the tunes that Beatport’s community singled out as the most important, far-reaching tracks of the year. In the Community Choice categories, over 10,000 votes were received, making those awards a key indicator of the tracks and artists that the Beatport community felt most passionate about. And finally, Beatport’s own staff voted on their own favourite tracks and artists of the year, including a new category, the Lifetime Achievement Award. Highlights: Artist of the Year - Deadmau5 Artist of the Year - Umek Lifetime Achievement Award - Carl Craig Top Track Of The Year - ”Tarantula” - Pleasurekraft Top Chill Out Track - ”You Wish” – Nightmares on Wax Top Dubstep Track - ”Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” – Skrillex Top Indie Dance/Nu Disco Track - ”Hello (Club Edit)” – Martin Solveig feat.
